I like your characters so far. I'm glad that they still have—I don't know how to word this any better, sorry—"normal" moments instead of letting whatever happened to Rose completely overtake their entire lives. (At least, her mother tries.) Also, Rose's narrative is actually really fun to read.

There were just a few minor mistakes ("scolding" instead of "scalding"), but the chapter is very well-written. :)
