I love LOVE this! Your voice is very present and distinct. And the writing is tightly knit. The only thing that threw me was the wording in your last line. I would say something like, "But every flame must die out. And she did."

This was written well. Brought little details in but enough to make you wonder. I suggest you keep the atmosphere by being careful with the words you choose. If you are going for the eerie feel, sometimes less is more. The more you leave stuff out, the more your readers would be kept in the dark wondering and imagining things for themselves.
