a cliffhanger huh, that seems pretty effective... seeing how the story is going id be interesting in seeing how many of the royal guard's men end up turning on the commander's decision before he actually does what he is thought to do...

what if they all turn on him and they all decide to look for the queen's daughter  except the commander

Also, there's  that odd voice that was mocking him of his passed mistakes... would that be the voice to finally convince him who knows...
