Three years ago, I was attacked by a wolf. Little did I know at the time, it was no normal wolf. I’ve been walking home after dropping off a friend at her aunts house. About a block away from home, I decided to take a breather. That one little decision changed my life forever.
Now, I’m a college student by day, and a werewolf by night. Well, at least on the full moon. Tonight, unfortunately, was one of those nights. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the wilderness, I just don’t enjoy the whole bone shifting, fur and fangs sprouting, wolf transformation. Not to mention the mate thing. I don’t like having to wait for some mystical being to tell me who I’m supposed to be with. I’d rather choose my own love, thank you.
”Artemis!”
I groan, looking up at Sam. “What?!” I ask, irritated.
”Have you heard the rumors?” He asked.
I frown, narrowing my eyes. “You mean about Natasha and Rick?” I ask.
”No. I mean about The Cure.” He responded.
My eyes widen in surprise. “What cure?” I demanded.
”For lycanthropy. I saw a sign about it about half a mile away. Apparently there are new people in town, claiming to turn werewolves human. The entire pack is shaken up, everyone’s wondering if it’s true.”
I gape at him. “Where?!” I ask.
”The abandoned church on Linden street. You know, the place where Uncle Ted used to go before it burnt down? They’re rebuilding it.”
Shaking my head in disbelief, I stood up from the bench I had been sitting on. “I’m gonna check it out.” I say.
Sam’s eyes widen in disbelief. “What?! It could be dangerous!” He replies, worried.
”Relax, I’m just gonna stay long enough for me to see if it’s the real deal. I won’t even go inside, I’ll keep a safe distance.” I lie, knowing full well I’m going inside.
He sighed. “Fine, but if you’re not back by tomorrow, I’m gonna set up a search party,” he joked, trying to lighten the mood.
I grinned. “No promises, delta.” I respond.
Sam is the delta of the wolf pack, and my best friend. We met when I turned, and ended up going to the same college. I wave to him. “Bye.” I say, heading off to Carmen church.
“I guess it’s time to confess my sins,” I joke to myself.
