話說，這日秦淮河畔一株柳樹下，不知何時多了一個嬰兒，時某閣子的老鴇剛吃完茶，無意瞅見，忽不知怎的生的一絲善，想著「錢糧也不缺，這東西如教我養成個美人，我到賺了，大不了，養個五、六年，長出個形狀來，如是個不好的，便做個粗使罷了」思即此處，便把這嬰兒抱回閣去，取了個名兒叫柳兒，養至五、六歲時，便出來些美人胚子的樣兒，琴棋書畫、詩詞歌賦也通了七成。老鴇一喜想來是賭對了，便教柳兒唱曲子，沒成想唱的極好，不過教了一年，便清亮響脆，老鴇心下一動想著「到時候賣了他，至多也就五十兩銀子，若是我趁現在便賣給戲園子，抬個價，說不準能有個高價」預知後事如何,且聽下回分解
