Blood was seeping into the ground
And chains were digging into our wrists
There was a slave-girl, an orphan girl, who had always been bound
Who had loved the boy with stitched lips
Bones were rotting beneath our feet
A generation lost to the lies
Lost to the men who say that they're wise
Lost to the static, the secret reprise
But hope personified does the night greet
And flame personified does all its deeds
The fire rolls out over all of forever
And therefore Hope will never retreat
In these times, we need Hope the most
And that is why She was sent to our coasts
She's not a human, who loves and forgives
She's the god of the godless, the fire that lives
