髮菜含有神經毒素，千萬不要食用。

髮菜屬於藍藻門，是一種細菌。藍藻門含有神經毒素BMAA，增加肌肉萎縮症、柏金遜症、阿茲海默症等風險。

華人迷信諧音意頭，是故髮菜成了常見賀年食品，害技工小時候也吃了不少。

自從中文大學在2007年指出髮菜含有神經毒素，技工已拒絕食用。家人也在數年後跟隨，不再煮髮菜賀年。
