The Hospital Wing felt unusually peaceful compared to the chaos that had consumed Hogwarts over the previous several hours. Moonlight filtered through the tall windows, casting silver pools of light across polished stone floors and neatly arranged beds. The scent of healing potions lingered gently in the air, mixing with the faint fragrance of freshly laundered sheets. Magical lanterns glowed softly overhead, their warm light creating a comforting atmosphere that stood in stark contrast to the ancient darkness beneath the castle. Ginny lay propped against several pillows while Madam Pomfrey performed one final examination. The matron's wand moved carefully over Ginny's head, shoulders, and chest, streams of pale blue diagnostic magic tracing across her body. Every few moments Pomfrey hummed thoughtfully to herself while consulting a floating parchment covered in notes. The entire room remained quiet as everyone waited for her verdict.
Finally, Madam Pomfrey lowered her wand and nodded with visible satisfaction. "Excellent," she announced firmly. "Your magical core is stable, your mind shows no signs of lingering possession, and there is no permanent damage." 5Please respect copyright.PENANAm1ahVos12m
Relief immediately swept across the room. Ginny hadn't realized how tightly she had been holding herself until that moment. Her shoulders loosened slightly. Some of the fear she'd been carrying finally began to fade. 5Please respect copyright.PENANARyoLX0PndY
Pomfrey adjusted Ginny's blanket with practiced efficiency before fixing her with a stern but kind look. "You will, however, remain here for several days. Rest, food, hydration, and absolutely no wandering through ancient secret chambers." 5Please respect copyright.PENANAnBPykF79ic
Several students smiled despite themselves. Even Ginny managed a weak laugh. The sound felt like a small victory after everything she had endured.
Before anyone could say anything else, the Hospital Wing doors burst open with enough force to rattle several potion bottles.
"Ginny!"
The shout came from multiple voices simultaneously.
Harry and Kent rushed in first.
Hermione and Ron were immediately behind him.
Percy followed at nearly the same speed.
Fred and George arrived moments later.
Professor McGonagall entered behind them, moving quickly but with considerably more dignity.
The sight that greeted them stopped everyone in their tracks.
Ginny was awake.
Alive.
Smiling.
For several seconds nobody moved.
Then Harry crossed the distance almost instantly.
The worry he'd been carrying for days showed plainly on his face. His eyes looked exhausted. The constant fear and uncertainty surrounding Ginny's disappearance had weighed heavily on him. Seeing her sitting upright in bed felt almost unreal. He stopped beside her bed and simply stared for a moment as if confirming she wasn't some illusion. Ginny offered him a small smile. Harry immediately returned it. The relief was so overwhelming that words failed him entirely. For once, silence communicated more than conversation ever could.
Hermione reached Ginny next, "Oh, thank goodness."
The words escaped before she could stop them.
Her eyes looked suspiciously bright.
Ron stood beside her.
His face had gone pale upon hearing Ginny had been taken into the Chamber.
Now he looked as though a mountain had been lifted from his shoulders.
Fred and George exchanged a glance.
Neither twin bothered hiding their relief.
Kent was extremely relieved that Ginny was unharmed and alive.
Percy looked particularly shaken.
The usually composed prefect appeared moments away from either hugging Ginny or lecturing her for terrifying everyone.
Possibly both.
Instead, he settled for sitting beside her bed.
"You frightened us."
His voice cracked slightly.
That alone spoke volumes.
Ginny immediately felt guilty.
Yet before she could apologize, Percy shook his head.
"No."
He sighed heavily.
"Forget that."
The older brother reached over and gently squeezed her shoulder.
"I'm just glad you're alright."
McGonagall stood at the foot of the bed.
Her expression remained calm and controlled.
Yet those who knew her well could see the relief hiding beneath the surface.
Hogwarts students were her responsibility.
Every attack had weighed heavily upon her.
Seeing Ginny alive and recovering felt like a blessing.
"You've been through an ordeal, Miss Weasley," Her voice softened, "For now, your only responsibility is recovery."
Ginny nodded quietly.
Madam Pomfrey immediately seized the opportunity.
"Exactly."
The matron folded her arms.
"You will remain here for observation."
She pointed toward Ginny.
"You will eat properly."
Another point.
"You will sleep."
A third point.
"And you will not allow anyone to stress you."
Her gaze shifted toward the gathered students.
Everyone immediately looked innocent.
Even Fred and George.
Hermione stepped forward, "We'll help."
The declaration came without hesitation.
Ginny blinked.
Hermione smiled warmly, "We'll take notes for you."
Ron nodded, "So will I."
Harry nodded as well, "We'll make sure you don't fall behind."
Fred grinned, "We can even provide edited versions."
George nodded solemnly, "The educational kind."
Fred added, "Not the prank-filled kind."
George paused, "Mostly."
The joke earned a groan from Percy.
It also earned Ginny's first genuine laugh of the evening.
The sound warmed the room immediately.
McGonagall actually smiled.
A rare occurrence.
"See?" She said, "You needn't worry about your classes," Her gaze softened, "Focus on getting better."
Ginny swallowed hard.
The kindness surrounding her felt almost overwhelming.
After weeks of fear, manipulation, and isolation, she suddenly found herself surrounded by people who genuinely cared.
"Thank you."
Her voice was quiet.
But sincere.
Very sincere.
The words carried more emotion than she intended.
Nobody seemed to mind.
Nobody looked away.
Nobody judged her.
And for the first time since receiving Tom's diary, Ginny felt safe.
Percy's gaze shifted toward Mira.
A thoughtful expression crossed his face.
"Mira."
Everyone looked toward her.
Percy continued.
"Were you the one who found Ginny?"
The room became quiet.
Several people already suspected the answer.
But hearing it directly was different.
Mira nodded, "We found her."
Percy blinked, "We?"
Draco shifted slightly beside her.
Blaise folded his arms.
Theo offered a small nod.
Daphne smiled faintly.
Snape remained standing near the wall.
Looking every bit as imposing as usual.
"Professor Snape came with us," Mira explained, "Along with Draco, Blaise, Theo, and Daphne."
Several eyebrows rose.
Particularly Fred's and George's.
The twins clearly wished they'd been there.
Though perhaps not after learning what had actually happened.
Harry leaned forward slightly, "What happened down there?"
The question carried obvious curiosity.
Hermione looked equally interested.
Ron too.
Even McGonagall focused more intently.
Mira took a breath.
Then carefully explained, "We found Ginny unconscious inside the Chamber."
The room grew silent.
"A Horcrux containing a fragment of Tom Riddle's soul had been possessing her."
Harry immediately frowned.
Hermione's eyes widened.
Ron looked confused.
Several others appeared equally puzzled.
"Who's Tom Riddle?" Kent asked, confused.
Mira let out a sigh, "He was a former Hogwarts student of the Slytherin House, a Parselmouth, who later became the Dark Wizard who fear to speak his name," She paused, "Lord Voldemort."
The Gryffindors stiffened at the Dark Wizard's name. The wizard that every wizard and witch feared. But somehow Harry Potter defeated him when he was an infant.
Mira continued, "It was controlling her. Using her. Manipulating her." Her gaze shifted toward Ginny, "It caused her to open the Chamber."
Ginny lowered her head slightly.
Mira immediately continued before guilt could resurface, "It wasn't her fault."
The statement was firm.
Certain.
Absolute.
"Dumbledore agrees."
Everyone looked relieved hearing that.
Particularly the Weasleys.
"The Horcrux released the Basilisk," Mira explained, "It was responsible for the recent attacks."
Harry blinked, "The Basilisk?"
"The giant snake." Mira clarified.
Ron immediately paled, "Giant snake?"
Hermione looked fascinated despite herself.
Fred and George exchanged alarmed looks.
McGonagall looked unsurprised.
Given recent events, giant serpents almost felt predictable.
"But it's over now," Mira finished quietly, "The Horcrux has been dealt with. Ginny is safe and Dumbledore isn't punishing her."
The final statement seemed especially important.
Ginny visibly relaxed hearing it spoken aloud again.
The reassurance helped.
A lot.
The room settled into comfortable silence.
Outside, the moon continued its journey across the night sky.
Inside, the fear that had haunted Hogwarts for months was finally beginning to fade.
Ginny sat surrounded by family.
By friends.
By people who cared about her.
Harry, Kent, Hermione, Ron, Percy, Fred, George, McGonagall, Mira, Draco, Blaise, Theo, Daphne, and even Snape in his own quiet way.
For the first time since the Chamber had opened, the future no longer felt frightening.
It felt hopeful.
