Without waking up in the middle of the night.

Without crying myself back to sleep.

Should I open my eyes?

It's not like I have anywhere to be.

No plans.

No one waiting for me.

Why does it feel like I'm forgetting something?

I frowned.

A faint clatter echoed from somewhere inside the apartment.

Like someone was moving around in the kitchen.

...

Kitchen?

Who...

I don't remember anyone being here.

Maybe I'm imagining it.

Or maybe someone broke in.

Whatever.

Let them take whatever they want.

It's not like I care anymore.

I'll just pretend I'm asleep.

A few moments later...

Someone gently tapped my shoulder.

I ignored it.

Another tap.

Stop poking me.
