The next week, it was the seniors exams and the last day that they would be in the academy, every female senior across the week proposed to each of the trio and got rejected every time.
Clover decided to stay with the trio and chatted with them on more casual conversations before the exams. The female students all tried to impress the trio, trying to have a final shot to date them, but to their embarrassment, the boys weren't even there until it was Clover's turn.
Clover challenged Mr Blaze surprisingly, "Hey teach, thanks for taking care of the trio, please keep doing that, so that I know they are in good hands," Clover said.
"No problem, and don't worry, the principal allowed me to keep being their homeroom teacher, so no need to worry," Mr Blaze replied and Clover bowed with a small smile.
The battle commenced, Clover's eyes glowed a light yellow and slashes of sand clawed at Mr Blaze, he snapped his fingers and a burst of fire blocked the slashes. Clover then created a sand rifle and shot bullets from a far, but Mr Blaze shot his own fire bullets to counter Clover's. During the battle, Clover chanted "Sand Eruption!" and then a thick ball of sand appeared at his fingertip, he threw it and a massive explosion occurred. Mr Blaze used a constant wave of fire to block the explosion. After Clover used that move, he was too weak to keep going and got 93/100 and the highest score of the seniors.
"That was amazing!! What was that move you did?" Nex asked with his eyes sparkling.
"It is called a named attack. By chanting, the attack you used gets boosted and you normally have three named attacks. The strongest form of a named attack is known as an ultimate. It has three stages and it is very difficult to use and only mages of diamond and prismatic can use level one, let alone level three," Anas explained to Nex.
"Oh yeah, and we bought you gifts as a farewell gift," Anas said to Clover. They each gave their gifts to him, Nex got him a brown leather jacket, Anas got him a cowboy's hat and Karasu got him leather boots.
After seeing the gifts, Clover couldn't hold back his tears of joy, he immediately tried them on and he truly looked like a real cowboy. He hugged all of them tightly, at first it was a competition to see who got him the better gift, but the trio didn't care about that and just hugged him.
"I will become a great mage and wait for you three to become official mages. I will guide you three when you guys are at the end of your third term," Clover said with them in his arms. They all wished him good luck as he headed to the ANGEL building next to the central hall.
After all the seniors went on their journey to the ANGEL building, the school was much quieter and it was time for the academy to choose new first-years.
There were over 500 applications and only the top 100 can study at the Celestial Star Academy. To choose the 100 students, the school doesn't choose from their strength and status alone, but also their intelligence and co-operative skills, this is why someone like Anas managed to get in even though his strength was lacking a bit.
The applicants will go to the various training rooms and also have mini games designed to test their teamwork. A few second-years were asked to help and also join the applicants to give a closer inspection of them, and the trio was a part of the second-years who will help.
The first two days of this were perfectly normal, everyone was having fun while doing their best to get enrolled in the academy. However, on the third day, two applicants went missing. The security guards that are scattered around the school didn't see either of them, and most teachers thought they left unnoticed because they knew they can't enroll. But throughout the entire day, more and more applicants just vanished without a trace.
Principal Agnus saw the situation and asked the trio to look for the missing applicants, they decided not to split up just in case if they go missing. They got a map and crossed out rooms one by one, until all the rooms were crossed out.
"This is strange. They aren't in the academy, but guards at the school gate and walls didn't see anyone escape. Something is up, but I don't know what," Anas said with confusion and a frustrated look.
"They aren't on the roof of the academy and no teacher saw any students in the teacher's offices. That means they just vanished into thin air?" Karasu said with even more confusion.
"Even if some of them can fly, there's no way all eight missing students can fly," Nex said.
All of them were at a loss, until Anas suggested something, "What if a second-year or a teacher kidnapped them?" This took them back.
"Are you out of your mind?? The second-years were next to us the entire time and why would the teachers kidnap them?" Karasu questioned.
"Do you guys know what absorption magic is?" Anas asked them and both shook their heads.
"Absorption magic is absorbing magic from other people and due to evolution across generations, magic is now part of our DNA," Anas explained with the two starting to tense up, "And absorption magic can only manifest in awakeners with white eyes and more importantly, black eyes..." Anas explained and the two boys were shocked.
"NO, NO WAY! It can't be HIM, he's a trusted man in the academy!" Karasu shouted, but then, "So you have finally figured it out, honestly, I thought it would have taken you less time, but I guess I overestimated your intelligence, Anas," Mr X said at the end of the hallway while holding a guard's body.
"And luckily for me, there are no guards to save you guys," Mr X said with a sinister smile.
"ANAS, RUN TO PRINCIPAL AGNUS'S OFFICE!! ME AND CROW WILL HOLD HIM OFF FOR NOW, I DOUBT ANYONE WOULD BELIEVE YOU BESIDES HER, SO GO, NOW!" Nex shouted at the top of his lungs and Anas dashed to her office.
"Haha!! You think you can defeat me?
