Someone was knocking loudly on the door.
Her thoughts scattered at the sound, and in frustration, she said,
“I’m coming… patience, I don’t know who has it.”
She opened the door and saw her roommate standing there.
She said,
“Why didn’t you come for breakfast?”
“Mm… my eyes just opened,” she replied.
“Well, let me ask you something,” the floor mate said.
“Okay, ask,” she replied.
“Your behavior has changed since last night. Otherwise, you never responded to anything
we said,” the floor mate said.
As soon as she finished her sentences, she thought I didn’t even think about that. Where
could he be? Was it a dream?
The floor mate interrupted, “Hello? What are you thinking about?”
She shook her head slightly, composed herself, and said,
“I need to freshen up, then we’ll talk.”
“Oh, okay. As you wish. Bye-bye,” she replied with a slight smile, and closed the door in
her face.
As soon as she closed the door, she heard the washroom door open behind her.
That voice made her heart race.
I’m all alone here… so whose voice is this? She thought, trying to process it.
“Good morning,” he said from behind.
As soon as she heard his voice, she nervously shook her head and muttered,
This must have been a dream, right? Then how is all this real? How is this possible?”
She was very nervous; her hands and body were trembling.
She slowly stepped backward.
He was watching her.
Seeing his handsome, shirtless body should have made her nervous.
And on top of that, the drops of water dripping from his head onto his body were amazing.
She had never seen such a beautiful body before.
It was only the second time she had seen someone shirtless, but this was the first time she
felt embarrassed.
She fixed her gaze on him, but shyness made her turn her face away.
“Where’s your shirt?” She asked shyly.
“I put it in the wash,” he said, laughing.
“What?!” She shouted.
“And what will you wear then?” He asked.
“What about your clothes?” She asked, smiling lightly.
Hearing this, she froze and looked at him.
She was very embarrassed, and this ridiculous comment even made her laugh, but still, she
controlled herself and said,
“You’re crazy. Will you wear my clothes? And what do you think I’ll give you my clothes?”
While saying this, she lost control of herself and started laughing loudly,
“You’ll wear my clothes?” She said, laughing and giggling.
Seeing her smile, he was very happy.
“No way my clothes will suit you,” she laughed loudly again.
Then she remembered, according to people, she lived alone in this room.
If someone heard her laughing so loudly, people would think she was crazy.
Reluctantly, she controlled her laughter, but her face still held a smile.
Pretending to be serious, she said,
“Put on your shirt. Aren’t you ashamed? Coming here like this in front of a girl?”
“Oh, sorry, there wasn’t a towel in your washroom,” he said.
Hearing this, she felt embarrassed and thought,
There’s no towel in my washroom… how shameful… what must he be thinking?
He replied,
“I keep my towel hidden. It’s only mine. I don’t let anyone else use it.”
Good, I’m the same; what’s mine is only mine, he said
She looked into his eyes from a distance and said,
“Hmm, that’s good,”
She replied,
“Wait, I have a T-shirt you can wear.”
She said,
“Pink, right?”
He teased her,
“How would you know?”
She asked,
“I don’t know,” he said, pretending to be unaware.
She ignored him and walked toward the wardrobe to find the shirt.
As she was searching, she felt that he had come and stood behind her.
“Found it,” he said, coming close to her ear.
Hearing him so near, her heartbeat raced, and her nervousness increased.
“Mm… I,” she started to finish her sentence, but he said,
“I’ll find it for you.”
Hearing this, she looked into his eyes, trying to stop him, but then he reached with one hand
from her straight side without touching her waist, and the other hand inside the wardrobe,
somehow pulling out the shirt.
She just stared, frozen.
She stepped back, and he stood just behind her, intensifying her sensations.
She looked into his eyes, then, still looking at him, pointed at the shirt with her eyes and
softly said,
“This is it, right? That’s the shirt.”
He could feel her long, deep breaths.
“Are you okay?” He asked.
“I have to go,” she said, ignoring him.
Hearing her, he stepped aside.
She walked toward the washroom, and he watched her, with a slight smile on his face.
Her hair was wet from the water.
She was drying her wet hair with a towel, sometimes this way, sometimes that way,
untangling her hair.
She came out of the washroom, still forgetting that he was in her room, or maybe in her
mind; she thought he must have already left.
As soon as she came out of the washroom, her eyes fell on his bed, and she jumped again.
“You didn’t leave?” He asked.
“Where?” He replied in a calm manner.
“There’s something strange to me about where you came from,” she paused and spoke.
“You’re so chill. Last night, you were so scared,” she said.
Hearing this, he said,
“No, I’m me. I just don’t want to trouble you,” he said.
“Oh, I don’t care about you at all. And anyway, I’m not worried about you, that’s why I’m
worried about your family.”
“Family?” He spoke.
While saying this, his expression suddenly changed.
Before, his face had looked fresh; now it looked dim.
Seeing his expression, she said,
“Yes, family?”
“My family… I don’t have one. I’m alone,” he said seriously.
“I’m sorry. I am so sorry. I didn’t know,” she said, embarrassed.
“It’s okay,” he said.
“Where did everyone go? I mean, if you want to tell me…” she started.
“Forget it. My wound is fresh. One shouldn’t scratch the past. You go back many years, but
don’t worry, I’ll tell you later,” he said.
“Mm… okay. But then we won’t meet at all,” she said immediately.
“You don’t want to meet? I do,” he said, looking at her.
Hearing this, she couldn’t say anything further.
“You must be hungry, an?” She asked her.
“Hmm, yes,” she said.
He was using his mobile phone. Her gaze fell on his mobile.
“This mobile looks very expensive,” she said.
He looked away from his mobile and looked at her.
“I found it lying around, so I picked it up,” he said.
“Don’t joke. I know enough that such expensive things don’t just lie around. Or maybe they
do, I don’t know,” she said.
Hearing this, he looked at her intently as she walked toward the incident.
“I too… someone sent me such an expensive mobile. I don’t know who it could be,” she
thought.
Then he came close to her and started whistling.
Hearing the unique sound of his whistle, she came to her senses and found him standing in
front of her.
He whistled again.
She was a little shocked by this whistle and said, “Why… this sound feels familiar? I’ve
heard it somewhere before.”
Confused, he said, “What? How is that possible?”
“This is exactly what I’m thinking. We met for the first time,” she replied.
“Okay, never mind. What should I order for you?”
“I don’t have money,” she said immediately.
Hearing her, he looked at her and then said,
“I’ll pay.”
“One minute. You can’t order all this here. I’ll get into trouble,” she explained.
“That’s my responsibility,” he said and started moving forward.
She didn’t know what came over to her. She grabbed his arm, turned him toward herself,
and said,
“Look, whose room is this?”
“Yours,” he replied confidently.
“Then whose rules will apply?” She asked.
“Come on, I’m hungry,” he said.
She released his arm and stood there, making a face.
“You won’t order anything. I’m telling you, "She warned him, pointing her finger.
“And if I don’t?” He said with a slight smile, teasing her.
Now she was very angry with him, burning inside.
I’ll show you right now, she thought.
As soon as she stepped toward him, who was standing a little distance away, her right foot
slipped on the water on the floor, and she started to fall.
At that exact moment, he stepped forward and held her by the waist.
“Easy, you were about to fall,” he said.
His eyes were on hers.
He pulled her closer to himself.
Now he was very close to her face.
Her breathing became fast, as if she were swallowing her breath.
She placed her hand on his shoulder.
He smiled.
Using his shoulder for support, she stood up while he was still holding her waist.
“It seems you really like saving girls,” she said.
Then she removed his hand from her waist and started to leave.
“There are some special people whom you don’t let get hurt,” he said.
Hearing this, her steps stopped, as if she had frozen.
“Why do you think I’m special to you?” She said without turning toward him.
“I’m that stone on which, even if water falls, no crack appears.”
“Stones don’t crack outside. Inside, they absorb storms,” he replied.
“You give very good answers,” she smiled slightly and walked toward the door.
“I’m locking the door and going. Please don’t do anything strange,” she said.
“Don’t worry,” he replied.
She opened the door, locked it, and went outside.
The hall was full of people; there was no place to sit.
Today, for the first time, she was eating with everyone.
I haven’t come here, but what can I do? If he’s in my room, I can neither eat nor sleep. I
don’t know when he’ll leave, she thought while looking for a place to sit.
Suddenly, her floor mate named Hanna came up to her and said,
“I’m so happy that today you’ll eat with us.”
“It was a compulsion, I would never come,” she replied.
“As soon as I saw you, I saved a place for you. Would you like to sit with me?”
“No thanks,” she said and started moving ahead.
She caught her hand and said lovingly,
“Please.”
She looked at herself. She didn’t know why, but today she felt pity for her.
She pulled her hand free and said,
“Okay
Yes. Thank you,” Hanna replied
. Hanna was very happy. Seeing her happiness made her feel good, too.
Both of them were now sitting at the table.
Her floor mate started serving food on her plate and her own.
Hanna continued to look at her, lost in thought.
I wonder where my family is right now. Does my sister even remember me? My mother… is
she okay? Does Dad miss me, too?
While she was lost in her thoughts, Hanna placed a hand on her shoulder.
The touch brought her back to her senses, and she looked at her.
“Look, I’ve served food for both of us. You’ll eat one plate, right?” She asked, making an
innocent face.
She couldn’t refuse and nodded yes.
Her floor mate handed her a spoon, and then both of them started eating from one plate.
“Can I tell you something? When I saw you for the first time, you reminded me of my sister.
She was exactly like you.”
“What do you mean by was?” She asked.
“She is no longer in this world,” Hanna replied.
“Sorry, I shouldn’t have said that” she said regretfully.
“No, it’s okay. I have no one in this world. That’s why we are all here,” Hanna said.
“You’re lucky that you can say you have no one.”
Her words felt strange to Hanna, and she asked, “What do you mean?”
“Nothing,” she replied.
After a brief pause, Hanna said, “Alright, if you don’t want to share.”
She didn’t respond.
“Girls, listen! Look who has come to meet you,” the ma’am said, addressing all the girls
sitting at the table.
Hearing her voice, all the girls turned toward her, including her and Hanna.
“The people you’re about to meet today are among our top donors, who donate to our
organization every year.”
Her eyes were fixed in that direction.
When the ma’am called her name, she was completely stunned.
Her heart began to beat rapidly for no reason, as if an old fear had suddenly awakened.13Please respect copyright.PENANANbPHpNFR3X
