Lonely

It’s quiet here.

Week in, and

week out.

I’m alone.

Separated by

miles and miles

of lonely highway.

Two hours back

to touch and sound.

There are phones

and texts.

Those aren’t the same.

Not even FaceTime can compare

to your hand on my hip

or your whisper in my ear.

But I sit here

where there is no sound,

no touch,

and wonder if this is enough.
