Suddenly I was questioning everything. When my eyes met hers my heartbeat would slowly increase, my pupils dilating and my eyes unable to leave hers. Irina's voice always echoed in my mind and the thought of her made me smile. Oftentimes I would catch myself smiling like an idiot and it had me wondering what was going on between me and her. Conversations in science class soon became an unhealthy habit that the teacher eventually noticed. We were always talking non stop about the most random things, cats down the roads and stupid rumors. But the conversation wasn't what I would always remember. Whenever I spoke about something stupid or something I was concerned about, I always noticed that Irina would look me in the eyes with genuine interest. But maybe I'm overthinking, after all eye contact is basic manners. But when her eyes meet mine my heart stops, my words stuck in my throat. She just smiles softly down at me and my cheeks flush a rosy pink. It was those moments where I was in confusion.
I walked into science, bags under my eyes due to studying. My hand held a zero ultra monster which was already opened, sipping it casually as she glanced around and saw students groaning once more. My brows furrowed in confusion until I looked to the side and saw Irina already staring at me, meeting my gaze. But I didn't even need to say anything to understand. There were new seats. I sighed in annoyance, walking towards her and offering a sip of my monster.
"New seats?" I asked with exhaustion evident in my voice.
"Yeah." Irina muttered, taking the monster out of my hands and taking a sip. "What even is this?" She questioned with a raised eyebrow, handing the drink back to me.
I smiled and chuckled seeing her clear disgust. "It’s Monster. What, do you not like it? I mean it is zero sugar, but it's like one of the best flavors," I bragged, taking my monster back with a smile as I took another sip.
"More like cancer in a can."
I scoffed as I looked up at Irina, lowering the can from my lips. "Nuh uh! Red bull is cancer in a can!" I defied.
"Mmmh. Sure," Irina said with disbelief, crossing her arms while looking down at me. "Either way, it's not good for you."
"Pshhh, nothing is good for you these days. I just need my energy or I'll be a vampire all day. You don't wanna see that, do you?" I smirked and stuck my somewhat curled fingers out in front of my face like fangs while hissing. It made Irina laugh.
"That would actually be very entertaining," Her eyes stayed locked on mine.
I snickered. “What you find as 'entertaining' is very concerning," I teased, my hands coming back down from my face. My eyes stayed locked on hers, our heartbeats in sync.
My gaze trailed down Irina's face and met Irina’s lips, only now did I realize that her lips looked so soft… So kissable and irresistible. But my heart skipped a beat hearing the teacher call out our names.
"Irana! Kila! Get to your new seats and stop socializing!" The teacher called out, my head turning to her and my expression dimming, mainly because after being in this class for months the teacher still doesn't know how to say my name. I glanced over at Irina one more time and saw her staring at the teacher too, a polite and apologetic smile on her face despite also getting misnamed. She then looked back down at me and just shrugged her shoulders, walking to her newly assigned seat.
I stood there for a second, sighing softly before going to my own seat which was a few rows back from Irina's, putting my bag on the back of the chair before slumping in the chair once I sat down. I put my air pods back in my ear, looking out the window as Girl in Red started to flood my ears, my thoughts emptying. I turned my head towards the board, seeing that class was still not getting started so I peaked over at Irina. While I could just barely see over her shoulder, I couldn't tear away my gaze as cheesy as it sounds.
Until Damien walked across my gaze, my brows soon furrowing in frustration as he sat down next to me. I stared at him with a harsh glare. Damien. Stupid Damien.
Damien was a sleezy douche bag who was somehow always in my classes. He ranked of odor, like he ran across the whole school and back. He was also a stereotypical jock, but unfortunately for him he was getting no girls with that stench.
"Seriously, Damien, where is your deodorant?" I said, scoffing as I plugged my nose and looked away. But in the corner of my eye I saw someone looking at me, and I looked back at them. Initially my eyes were lightly narrowed into a glare, but seeing that it was Irina looking back at me my eyes softened almost instantly. I blinked, my initial frustration and disgust from Damien soon leaving as I waved at Irina with my free hand. With the same hand I then playfully put my thumb across my hand and raised my fingers up and down, a sign for help.
Irina smiled and chuckled lightly, waving her hand in front of her nose playfully as well, soon mouthing the words, 'I can smell him from over here.'
Yet unfortunately, the teacher walked to the front of the class, her dark brown cheetah print glasses low on her nose as she clapped her hands. "Students! Pay attention, class is now starting." She huffed lightly under her breath as all students, reluctantly including me and Irina— looked up at her. She then turned to the whiteboard, writing out the new assignment. But my focus was still on Irina, my eyes locked on the back of her head wishing just maybe she would turn back around so we could get lost in our own little world.9Please respect copyright.PENANAss1skcYGOC
